Sinan Road was home to some of Shanghai's most luminary figures in politics and the arts. You will get a brief introduction to the history of these personalities which include Zhou En Lai and Sun Yet Sen. And walk through the French Concession area.
During this walk, you will enter the former residence of revolutionary politician Zhou En Lai. The son of wealthy, well-educated parents, Zhou En Lai was the first Premier of the People's Republic of China and was instrumental in the Communist Party's rise to power and its restructuring of Chinese society. Though the house and its beautiful garden display the Western influence in the early 1900's Shanghai, the spartan interior shows a true commitment to the people's cause.
Sun Yat Sen's house, around the corner at 7 Xiangshan Lu, was built in the early 20th century. Sun Yat-Sen and his wife, Soong Qingling, lived here between 1918 and 1924 during which time he produced one of his most important works - The Doctrines of Sun Wen.
